Career Development: Lab Technician, QC Technician, Senior QC Technician, Supply Chain Officer
Describe your role? What drew you to this position?
I graduated with a Chemistry Degree from Huddersfield University. I have been with UNICAT for 3 ½ years. I started as a Lab Technician before moving into Quality Control (QC) as a QC Technician and then a Senior QC Technician, eventually becoming Supply Chain Officer.
My current role involves finding the best quality suppliers for products within the company’s supply chain and organizing supply chain processes, from the first contact to final approval. I also carry out audits on supplier sites globally and evaluate their performance.
Can you share an example of how the company culture supports employee’s growth and development?
The rapid growth of the company means there are always opportunities to learn new skills to help support new functions that, in turn, help support the business as it grows.
What do you enjoy most about working at the company, and what keeps you motivated within the role?
I most enjoy the atmosphere at work; it is very friendly and encourages everyone to grow and develop.
What excites you most about the future of our company, and how can new employees contribute to that vision?
The expansion of the company into new catalytic fields, such as hydrotreating, means there is the opportunity to learn more about new processes and to keep at the cutting edge of technology.
