Career Development: HR Officer - HR Manager

Describe your role at UNICAT? What drew you to this position?

I am the HR Manager for UNICAT. I joined the Company back in June 2023 ready to transition from retail to a manufacturing environment and excited to start a new chapter in my life. Initially I started off as the HR Officer and was recently promoted to HR Manager in October 2024. Since leaving school, my background has always been in HR Services so I was looking forward to joining the Company and applying my skills, knowledge and experience into my new role.

Can you share an example of how UNICAT’s company culture supports employee’s growth and development?

I am probably the perfect example. When I joined as an HR Officer, I was given the opportunity to take on new responsibilities and was supported through mentorship and training. This culture of fostering growth has not only allowed me to develop professionally but also helped me advance within the company, ultimately leading to my promotion to HR Manager. It also helps having such a supportive manager and team who have helped me also achieve my CIPD Level 5 in People Management.

What do you enjoy most about working at UNICAT, and what keeps you motivated within the role?

There is no day the same in the HR Department. It definitely keeps me on my toes! I enjoy being there to help and support people that need it. What keeps me motivated, is the opportunity to make a positive impact on the company’s people and culture, as well as the chance to continue developing my skills and contributing to the overall success of the organisation.

What excites you most about the future of our company, and how can new employees contribute to that vision?

What excites me the most about the future is the continued growth we are seeing along with new faces into the business. Within HR, we really focus on how we can support and drive positive change that will help with the success of the business. Part of that is ensuring we have the correct people in their respective roles and bringing new and engaging people into the business that can share their ideas and diverse perspectives.
